The Event

The ceremony will be at The Prospect Park Boathouse, at 5:30 p.m. on October 19, 2019. Drinks, dinner and dancing will follow.

Kindly note that this is an adults-only evening.

Three notes about what to wear:

  • The dress code is formal. Dark suits, long evening dresses, or formal cocktail-length dresses are all appropriate.
  • Please choose your heels carefully, as the boathouse has cobbled floors.
  • Please bring a layer for the October weather, as we hope for an outdoor ceremony.

The Boathouse

Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Boathouse, built in 1905, is a New York City landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. It stopped renting boats decades ago and was almost demolished. But now, after several renovations, it houses New York’s Audubon Center. We like it for being a pretty place in nature that still feels like New York. And it’s close enough to our home that we eat picnics there in the summer.

Getting There

You’re looking for the entrance on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Road, on the east side of the park. Park staff in yellow vests will be waiting to direct you. Cars cannot enter the park, and the boathouse is a five-minute walk from the road.

Please take care to enter the park from the correct place. If you do not, you will likely miss the ceremony — Prospect Park is bigger than Central Park, and the boathouse is at least half an hour's walk from any other entrance. Please leave extra time to handle traffic and find the location. We recommend no less than hour from anywhere in New York.

Transportation

We’ll provide a bus for all our guests at the The Beekman Hotel.

If you’re taking an Uber or Lyft, search for the Prospect Park Boathouse & Audubon Center in Brooklyn.

If you’re taking a cab, ask for the entrance to Prospect Park on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Road.

On the subway, take a B or Q train to Prospect Park Station. You can also take an A or C train to Franklin Avenue and then transfer to an S shuttle to Prospect Park.

If you are unfamiliar with the subway, we really recommend taking a cab. The trains are unpredictable, especially on weekends, and it’s easy to wind up at the wrong stop.

Accommodations

We recommend the The Beekman Hotel in Manhattan, located at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge. The hotel was built in 1881 on the site of the Chapel Street Theatre, which staged America’s first performance of Hamlet in 1761, and was destroyed in riots over the Stamp Act.

We have reserved a room block with The Beekman, and we’ll provide transportation from there to the wedding. To get the block rate, please reserve your room by September 18. You can book online with us or by calling 855 523 3562 and mentioning our wedding.
